We spent 8 weeks having our tutorials, lectures, academic meetings and other bonus subjects. When asked about my overall feelings of this experience, I want to say that’s so fantastic! With some anxiety and confusion in the beginning, we experienced an exciting journey in the field of philosophy and acquired a lot at last.

My specific field chosen before the tutorial lied in moral philosophy and I had the desire to study in this area further. I had learned that the tutorial pattern in Oxford was special with a dialect structure instead of a lecture. But when I attended the very first tutorial, I was quite stressed in expressing my own thoughts in such a frequency. Though in the lectures I had listened to before I would have some chances to raise questions or express myself, I had not imagined such a relationship between professors and students when having class. After having two tutorials, I was a little used to this educational method and enjoyed it, actually. I was fond of the equality as well as pure academic discussions in the process.

The professor was so patient with us students. I had some difficulties in expressing myself in English, because of my habit and poor pronunciation. In many cases, I even could not get the exact mean of my professor’s words. I was really scared to ask him to repeat the expression in the beginning, but I gradually found that he was always willing to do me a favor and to help me understand the topic. The professor was really kind!

I have acquired some brand new knowledge in the field of moral Philosophy especially about Kant’s ethics. I had a deeper understanding via these tutorials as well as the meetings and lectures. Besides the gains in terms of my major, I have more courage to express myself in English freely after the process. The tutorial is really helpful and instructive!
