Participating in the "2024 Jilin University-Rutgers University Philosophy Summer School", an exchange program that crosses national boundaries and academic fields, this experience not only broadens my academic vision and deepens my self-understanding of philosophy, but also exerts a profound impact on my life in multiple dimensions such as cross-cultural communication, change of thinking mode and personal growth.
Deepening of philosophical thinking:
In the summer school, the courses offered by Rutgers University cover many branches of the field of philosophy. Different from the traditional teaching methods, the most exciting part for me is that each professor will encourage everyone to ask questions bravely in class, sometimes through a brief self-introduction to get closer to us, so as to enhance students' concentration. The professors will recognize our academic questions one by one, and give us professional guidance and analysis. It made me realize the importance of academic exchange and collision of ideas.
Cross-cultural exchange experience:
After class, we visited the natural and cultural landscape inside the school, experienced the campus food culture, sports, etc., so that I can deeply appreciate the differences of different cultures. When I first came to the United States, I had some difficulties in adapting to the high-intensity study pressure, the differences in eating habits and the challenges of the unfamiliar environment.
